Scholarships
The team tries to give three scholarships each year, and typically 100% of our seniors receive some form of scholarship. This page lists the team’s own scholarships and places to look for more.
Team 271 Scholarships
- Entrepreneur Scholarship (typically one)
- Peter Mathews Memorial Scholarship (typically two), in memory of Peter Mathews, a Team 271 student, alumnus and mentor
The team’s own scholarships depend on its fundraising each year, so the number and amount can vary.

Fill Out the FAFSA Early
The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is how colleges, your state and the federal government decide on grants, work-study and loans. Some of that aid, including many state and college grants, is limited and given out first come, first served, so the sooner you fill it out, the better your chances of getting free money. Fill out the FAFSA at studentaid.gov.
FIRST Scholarships
As FIRST participants, team members can also apply for FIRST scholarships, offered by more than 150 colleges, universities and companies. See the FIRST Scholarship Program.
